Semiotic Posters
Semiotics is the study of processes the give meanings to signs and symbols. In our studio in the design program at ASU, we explored the concept of semiotics by creating posters based on a quote that represents different semiotic principles. The principles, in short, are Symbolic, Iconic, and Indexical. Symbolic means the poster is made up of symbols (letters, numbers, signs). Iconic means the poster uses imagery that represents the message literally. Indexial means the poster uses imagery that allows for the message to be interpreted. I chose this quote from a Chance the Rapper's song: "And I knew I was fly when I was just a caterpillar"
